We're just a couple of friends who were part the last generation to grow up before the internet and cell phones. We remember long afternoons with nothing to do but make something: a scarf on a pair of borrowed needles, a painting on the kitchen table, dinner from a recipe card in someone's handwriting.

We learned these things from parents and grandparents who never thought of them as hobbies. It was just how they lived.

Then the screens arrived, and we watched our generation and the generations after us grow up with more connection than ever and somehow feel more alone. We hear it all the time: I want to slow down. I want to make something real. I want to meet people without a phone between us.

So we're handing down what was handed to us.

Living Handmade is where we share what we have learned in knitting, painting, from-scratch cooking and other knowledge and skills with beginner-friendly kits and guides as well as in person, taught the way we learned: patiently, by hand, one step at a time.

Yes, you'll find us on a screen at first. That's where the lesson starts. With that every project is designed to need it a little less: watch a step, put the phone down, and let your hands take over. Before long, you won't need us at all, but we will always be there if you do.

When you need quiet go at it solo, or join our knit-alongs, paint-alongs, and get-togethers and make alongside new friends, the old-fashioned way.
